I'm going to be making a film where almost the entire thing is going to be in black and white. We'll be using a DV. In this film, I want one character to be in color, while the rest of the thing is in black and white. Is there any way to do this? A friend suggested filming on a green screen. Where would I go about getting one big enough?

Make one, with tent poles or doweling, get a thick cotton sheet and dye it green, unless you want the screen to have reflective qualities.
That would be the cheapest way, i think.

If you'd be willing to scale down the concept, software packages (such as Ulead's Media Studio Pro) have filters called "Color Pass". This effect makes everything black and white except for the color you select. I did a music video a while back where everything was in black and white except a red flower on the girl's jacket. Its not quite what you're looking for, but it will be a lot easier than the green screen stuff.
